 Day 1. Saigon

On arrival at the airport in Saigon, you'll be met by an APT representative and transferred to your luxurious hotel. Settle in and enjoy the rest of the day to explore at your leisure. Saigon was once a bustling French colonial city, and today offers a myriad of attractions that display both its rich culture and fascinating history. Tonight, meet fellow guests and your APT Tour Director during a Welcome Dinner at your hotel.

 Day 2. Saigon, Long Tan OR Cu Chi Tunnels

Today choose from two Signature Experiences and learn about Vietnam's recent past. On the first Signature Experience (min. and max. numbers apply), a coach transfer takes you to Nui Dat to visit the site that once served as the Australian Military Base during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, attend a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Long Tan Cross, set in a rubber plantation where Australian soldiers lost their lives. On the second alternative, visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the war. These tunnels served as Viet Cong hiding spots, supply and communication routes, hospitals and weapon caches, and make for a fascinating visit. Tonight, enjoy a Luke Nguyen-inspired degustation dinner, complete with matching wines, at Xu Restaurant.

 Day 3. Saigon, Freedom of Choice, Embark Lower Mekong River Cruise

Enjoy your selected activity this morning; Saigon Walking Tour, Artist Home Visit, Tour the city of the back of a motorbike, or learn to cook some traditional Vietnamese dishes. You then transfer to My Tho Port to embark your ship for your eight-day Lower Mekong River cruise. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Dinner.

 Day 4. Cai Be, Sa Dec

Step ashore in Cai Be and explore the city's colourful port area. Visit a local rice paper manufacturer to learn how rice paper is made, then enjoy lunch back on board as your ship cruises to Sa Dec. Upon arrival, take a boat ride past floating markets, then visit a local brick factory and a colourful Cao Dai Temple.

 Day 5. Tan Chau, Evergreen Island, Border Crossing

Go ashore for a tour of Tan Chau by rickshaw, then travel by small boat over tributaries to a remote evergreen island. The rest of today is then spent on board as you cross the border into Cambodia.

 Day 6. Phnom Penh

A tour of Phnom Penh today takes you to the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. Later, learn about the Khmer Rouge's regime at the infamous Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.

 Day 7. Phnom Penh, Koh Chen Village

This morning, enjoy time at leisure in Phnom Penh. Relax aboard your luxury ship or discover the city's Russian market. Later, cruise to the remote Koh Chen village, and visit some home-workshops that manufacture handmade copper souvenirs.

 Day 8. Oudong, Kampong Tralach

Disembark in Prek K'dam for a tour of Oudong. Continue to Kampong Tralach and visit Wat Kampong Tralach Pleu before an ox-cart ride takes you back to your ship.

 Day 9. Kampong Chhnang, Tonle Sap

Enjoy a boat excursion into the wetlands near Kampong Chhnang this morning. Then return to your ship and cast off towards the lake of Tonle Sap. Absorb the tranquillity of the lake before a Farewell Dinner on board.

 Day 10. Disembark Lower Mekong River Cruise, Siem Reap, Freedom of Choice

Today, pass floating villages as you cruise to port. Later, travel to the Angkor Archaeological Park to visit Angkor Thom, the temple of Bayon and the Terrace of the Elephants. Tonight, enjoy a choice of restaurants for dinner.

 Day 11. Siem Reap, Angkor

Rise early and enjoy a glass of champagne as you take in sunrise at Angkor Wat before a tour of the temple. After returning to Siem Reap for breakfast and time at leisure, explore the temple of Ta Phrom and visit a 'grass-roots' orphanage for a glimpse into the lives of rescued orphans. Tonight, enjoy a dinner along with an Apsara dance performance.

 Day 12. Siem Reap, Freedom of Choice, Luang Prabang, Embark Upper Mekong River Cruise

Choose from a range of activities this morning, then fly to World Heritage-listed Luang Prabang in Laos and transfer to your ship, the Mekong Sun. Later, walk up Phou Si Hill for sunset views over the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Then perhaps visit the night market or stroll along the Mekong promenade before a Welcome Dinner on board.

 Day 13. Luang Prabang

Early this morning, perhaps step out to observe monks collecting alms in the streets of Luang Prabang. After breakfast, a tour includes the Buddhist temple of Wat Xieng Thong, known as the city's most beautiful temple, as well as Wat Khili and the Wat Sene temples. After lunch, set off cruising along the Upper Mekong.

 Day 14. Pak Ou Caves

After breakfast, step ashore to explore the incredible Pak Ou Caves, famous for the thousands of small Buddha statues set inside the caverns. Later, relax on board your ship or enjoy a short walk through the jungle to visit a Laotian village. Here, you'll see how the local liqueur, Lao-Lao, is traditionally distilled. Keep an eye out for elephants as you return to your ship.

 Day 15. Tha Deua

Today your ship will head south to Tha Deua, a ferry crossing which connects the Luang Prabang Province with the Sayaboury Province. Today's cruising offers possibly the most impressive scenery of the journey. This afternoon, disembark to visit a village school for an insight into local life. Due to sudden drops in water level, on some days it may be necessary to make this excursion in a local Lao slow boat.

 Day 16. Kuang Si Falls, Tha Pan, Luang Prabang

After a relaxing breakfast this morning, disembark and travel by coach to the village of Tha Pan, where you can observe how the local communities live in Northern Laos. Then continue to the famous Kuang Si Falls, possibly the most picturesque waterfalls in the country. After returning to your ship, cruise back to Luang Prabang. This evening, take part in a Farewell Dinner followed by a traditional Lao Baci friendship ceremony.

 Day 17. Luang Prabang, Disembark Cruise, Chiang Mai

This morning, disembark your ship in Luang Prabang and fly to Chiang Mai, in Thailand's north. Check in to your resort, then visit the temple of Wat Suan Dok and continue to Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, the most sacred in Northern Thailand. This evening, head to a local restaurant for dinner, then ride a tuk-tuk through the streets to the city's famous night bazaar for a stroll among the stalls.

 Day 18. Chiang Mai Sightseeing

This morning, head to the The Elephant Training Center Chiang Dao. Watch the elephants take their morning bath in a stream, then see the trainers guide the elephants in practising a number of skills. After lunch at local restaurant, visit a farmhouse on the outskirts of Chiang Mai and take a stroll around the grounds. Then board a long-tail boat and take in the picturesque rural scenery during a cruise on the pretty Mae Ping River. Following time at leisure, tonight dine at a Khantoke-style restaurant and enjoy Northern Thai folk dancing.

 Day 19. Chiang Mai, Mae Kampong, Chiang Rai

Leaving Chiang Mai, travel via a local market to Mae Kampong, where you'll meet some of the villagers and enjoy lunch with a local family. Then continue through the mountains to Chiang Rai. Here, visit the King Meng Rai Monument, built to honour the founder of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. Then explore the Hilltribe Museum before checking into your hotel, where you'll enjoy dinner tonight.

 Day 20. Chiang Rai Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive through the mountains to The Golden Triangle '" where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar formerly converge. Visit the Hall of Opium, an interactive museum in which you'll learn about the history of opium. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the ancient Kingdom of Chiang Saen, set opposite Laos on the banks of Mekong River. See ancient ruins and temples before returning to your resort to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure before dinner.

 Day 21. Chiang Rai, Bangkok

Fly from Chiang Rai to Bangkok this morning. Check in to your hotel then perhaps relax or explore Bangkok at leisure this afternoon.

 Day 22. Bangkok

An early start today gets you to Wat Po in time to experience the monk's early morning chanting ritual. Afterwards, visit the temple grounds and the 45 metre-long reclining Buddha. Continue to The Grand Palace, Thailand's most important landmark, before marvelling at the Emerald Buddha. This afternoon, board a private long tail boat and cruise the Khlong Bang Luang waterway, passing the shop houses, local temples and vendors along this former trade route. Stop at Baan Silpan, a 100 year-old building that is now an art gallery. Perhaps wander through the gallery, take part in an art workshop or explore the area before enjoying a unique puppet show. Later, visit the Temple of Dawn, Wat Arun, before the rest of the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner.

 Day 23. Depart Bangkok
