Description

Peru is one of the most diverse and exciting countries in South America. The contrasting environments offer a unique opportunity to experience an incredibly wide range of spectacular scenery and a wealth of archaeological sites. Travel by train to and from the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, situated high in the cloud forest. Then board the luxury Belmond Andean Explorer train and spend 2 nights onboard, visiting the highest navigable lake in the world - Lake Titicaca before continuing to the impressive Colca Valley, visiting the Condor's cross viewpoint to observe the Andean Condor. The trip ends in the beautiful whitewashed city of Arequipa.

 Day 1

Arrive at Lima airport and transfer to your hotel in Miraflores for 2 nights
This modern and stylish property, managed by Belmond Hotels (formerly Orient Express Hotels) is located in the exclusive residential area of Miraflores and boasts wonderful ocean views.


 Day 2

Private half-day guided city tour of Lima


 Day 3

This elegant hotel has a privileged position on the banks of the Rio Urubamba, north of the village of Urubamba and is now part of the Orient Express Group.
Private transfer to Lima airport, flight from Lima to Cusco (90 minutes) for a 2 night stay at the Sacred Valley. Stop en route at Pisac market and the ruins at Ollantaytambo.

Our preferred choice in is set in five hectares of cloud forest. The hotel grounds host numerous species of orchids, birds, butterflies, reptiles and mammals.
Private transfer to Ollanta train station, travel by Vistadome train following the course of the Urubamba river to Aguas Calientes. Private guided tour of Machu Picchu ruins.


 Day 6

Situated in the heart of colonial Cusco, this hotel is a former monastery built over 300 years ago.
Morning at leisure. Evening luxury Hiram Bingham train to Poroy, Private transfer to Cusco.


 Day 7

Private guided half-day tour of Cusco and nearby ruins.


 Day 8

Private transfer to Cusco train station. Board the luxury Belmond Andean Explorer train heading to Lake Titicaca across the Altiplano.
Overnight accommodation on Belmond Andean Explorer Train.

This boutique hotel is a colonial building dating from the late 18th century and constructed in the local white volcanic stone.
Visit the Condor's cross viewpoint and enjoy the amazing scenery. After midday, transfer to Arequipa (approximately 5 hours duration).


 Day 13

Afternoon transfer to the airport for flight to Lima. Connect with your international flight back to the UK.
Sightseeing in Arequipa will include a visit to Santa Catalina Monastery.
