This itinerary is designed to cover the lesser known parts of Guatemala, whilst still covering the main attractions. It also includes the area of Copan over the border in Honduras.

Itinerary


 Day 1

Panza Verde is a beautiful colonial style small boutique hotel.
On arrival in Guatemala City, transfer to Antigua and overnight at Panza Verde.


 Day 2

Afternoon private half-day guided walking tour of Antigua. .


 Day 3

After breakfast, visit the Azotea coffee farm, the woodcarvers and silversmiths of Jacotenango and a butterfly farm (entry fee not included).


 Day 3

The highlight of this property is undoubtedly Lake Atitlan and its surrounding volcanoes, the views of which are unsurpassed from the hotel.
After breakfast, transfer to the Maya ruins at Iximche (near Lake Atitlan). Explore site independently and then transfer by land to Panajachel (time to explore town). Followed by boat transfer to Hotel Atitlan on Lake Atitlan for overnight stay.


 Day 5

After breakfast, private half-day guided tour of Santiago including a visit to San Juan La Laguna, the textile cooperative to see traditional hand weaving with thread still dyed with natural dyes and a visit to the home/workshop of local Naif painters. Lu
Afternoon at leisure.


 Day 6

This hotel is situated in an exclusive residential district on a hillside overlooking Guatemala city.
After breakfast, transfer to Chichicastenango to visit the traditional Mayan market (held on a Thursday and Sunday). Lunch included.
Transfer to Guatemala City.


 Day 7

Nestled in the hills above the tranquil Copan river valley, Hacienda San Lucas is a 100-year old family-owned retreat.
After breakfast, transfer by road (5hours) to Copan in Honduras. (Supplement to fly upon request.) You will be met by our driver and transferred to the bird park for a half day guided vist. Transfer to Copan village hillside to the tranquil Hacienda San L


 Day 8

Transfer to the wonderful Maya site of Copan for a group guided tour of the ruins. Lunch is included. In the afternoon, enjoy a short hike to visit the tiny site of Los Sapos.
Dinner (included) and overnight at Hacienda San Lucas. HB


 Day 9

The modern Banana Palms resort is situated on the beautiful Rio Dulce, in between the Lake Izabal and the Caribbean Sea - a ten minute boat ride from town.
After breakfast, transfer across the border and then onwards to Rio Dulce. On the way you will stop briefly for refreshments at the Quirigua site.
Upon arrival in Rio Dulce, you will be transferred by boat to the hotel.


 Day 10

After breakfast, transfer by boat for a private half-day trip down the river to the Caribbean town of Livingston. Lunch at Livingston (not included) and wander around this Garifuna town at leisure.
Return transfer by boat


 Day 11

Camino Real Tikal is a modern style hotel.
After breakfast, take the hotel boat back to Rio Dulce to transfer to the Peten region. Lunch in Flores (not inc.) and then stroll at leisure around the town. Transfer over to the other side of the lake.


 Day 12

Early transfer for a full day private guided tour of Yaxha and Topoxte sites.


 Day 13

Early transfer for a half day private guided tour of Tikal National Park (lunch included).


 Day 14

Transfer to Flores airport for flight to Guatemala City.
Sky walk excursion.


 Day 15

After breakfast, transfer to airport for return flight OR FLY TO AMBERGRIS CAYE, BELIZE FOR BEACH EXTENSION (from Peten on day 14).
