 Day 1 Arrive Christchurch

Your journey begins today on arrival into Christchurch. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your stylish and comfortable hotel. Enjoy a City Sights tour this afternoon and a Welcome Dinner this evening.

 Day 2 Christchurch, TranzAlpine Train, Franz Josef Glacier

SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE Board the TranzAlpine train for one of the world's greatest rail adventures. Journey through the striking patchwork farmlands of the Canterbury Plains, before travelling across the magnificent Southern Alps within Arthur's Pass National Park. Disembark your journey at Arthur's Pass.
SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE Journey along the dramatic New Zealand west coast to Franz Josef, where you'll have the opportunity to take in the dramatic terrain and icy surrounds of the striking Franz Josef Glacier. Sitting at just 250 metres above sea level, Franz Josef is quite unique as it is one of just three glaciers in the world that descends into temperate rainforest.
In Hokitika, enjoy the opportunity to see pounamu (jade) being skilfully carved into ornaments or pieces of jewellery. Tonight, enjoy a four-course degustation dinner at your hotel set on the edge of Westland National Park.

Thrill-seekers may enjoy an exhilarating ride on the famous Shotover Jet Boat, a Skippers Canyon adventure, or a river safari along the shimmering waters of the Dart River.  Day 7 Auckland, Bay of Islands

SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE Journey to the stunning Bay of Islands and visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the original treaty between the British and Maori people was signed. Here, you'll also enjoy a visit to the Maori Meeting House and War Canoe.
Cross Auckland's busy Harbour Bridge this morning and travel along the Hibiscus Coast. Stop at Matakohe's Kauri Museum for an insight into the rich pioneering history of New Zealand's Northland region.

SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE Explore the spectacular Bay of Islands on a dolphin-watching cruise to Cape Brett and the famous Hole in the Rock. Meander through the inner islands, admiring the picturesque sandy beaches, rocky outcrops, and secluded bays.
After your cruise, return by coach to Auckland and enjoy a special dinner at your hotel to mark the end of the land tour.

 Day 11 Tauranga, Rotorua

This morning your ship docks in the port of Tauranga. Once the site of fierce Maori wars, today it is a peaceful city in the heart of kiwi fruit growing country. After breakfast, you may choose to transfer to Rotorua where you can select from various sightseeing tours. Perhaps visit the Hobbiton Movie Set and gain an enthralling insight into the making of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Other options include learning about Maori culture at Maoria Marae, a traditional Maori meeting place, or witness the thrilling sight of erupting geysers at Hell's Gate Thermal Reserve. Others may prefer to relax and enjoy the scenery on a cruise on Lake Rotoiti, one of nine beautiful lakes in the district.

 Day 12 Napier

Today the ship arrives in the town of Napier. Known globally as 'the art deco town', Napier was rapidly rebuilt in the prevailing style of the 1930s after a devastating earthquake in 1931. Today's optional shore excursions include a tour of Hawke's Bay Wineries, or an Art Deco Highlights tour. Perhaps visit Clifton Station, a working sheep farm and a tour of the Tuki Tuki Valley and Te Mata Peak where you will have panoramic views over Hawke's Bay. Another option is a visit to the Clearview and Abbey Cellars where you can learn about the history of wine-making in the region and sample some of Hawke's Bay's finest wines at the cellar door.

 Day 13 Wellington

Arrive in New Zealand's capital today, which is famous for its Botanic Gardens which feature 25 acres of ponds, sculptures and beautiful native flora on a hillside overlooking the city and harbour. Wellington is also famous for its Cable Car, that runs from Kelburn hill overlooking the city, down to Lambton Quay, the main shopping street. Optional shore excursions include a Lord of the Rings tour where you will visit some of the locations featured in the famous film trilogy or a Seal Coast Safari to discover the rugged and unique beauty of the south coast in a 4WD vehicle, driving along unpaved roads and beaches to where a seal colony is situated.

 Day 14 Picton

This morning your ship berths on the South Island, in the port of Picton, which lies in the upper reaches of the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. Picture perfect in every way, Picton is the gateway to New Zealand's famous Marlborough wine growing region. Shore excursions include a spectacular Sounds Seafood Cruise, or perhaps sample some of the region's famous Sauvignon Blancs on a Wines of Marlborough tour. Another option is to visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum and see its stunning display of World War I aircraft.

 Day 15 Akaroa, Christchurch

This morning ms Noordam arrives in the port town of Akaroa, known for its historic French and English colonial architecture and vibrant cafe culture. Perhaps take a Nature Cruise around the beautiful natural harbour that was formed by an ancient cataclysmic volcano eruption. Learn about the fascinating geological history along with its rich marine life. Another option is to take a Scenic Helicopter Flight and view the stunning scenery of the coast and countryside from above. You may also choose to visit the nearby city of Christchurch, which is continuing its recovery from the devastating earthquake of 2011, and is known as a city of 'arts, adventure and optimism'.

 Day 16 Port Chalmers, Dunedin

This morning we arrive in Port Chalmers at the southern end of New Zealand's South Island, close to the city of Dunedin. Known as the Edinburgh of the south, this former gold-mining town was once New Zealand's largest city, and its Victorian and Edwardian heritage is still proudly on display. This vibrant university town features many examples of its heritage architecture including the famous, historic railway station, the town hall, the municipal chambers and St Paul's Cathedral. Optional excursions today include a visit to the historic Larnach Castle or a tour of the beautiful and wildlife abundant Otago Peninsula.

 Day 17 Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park

SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE Cruise along the coastline to view the scenic beauty of this region including the famous Mitre Peak.
Today marks the most spectacular day of your cruise. Fiordland has achieved World Heritage status as part of Te Wahipounamu, and is home to 14 stunning fiords, including Milford, Doubtful and Dusky sounds, that span 215km of coastline.

 Day 18 At Sea

Today the ms Noordam leaves New Zealand's shores and heads west across the Tasman Sea. Between sumptuous meals you may decide to relax in your cabin or by the Lido Pool. The more energetic might spend some time in the fitness centre or take part in one of the many onboard activities that are available.

 Day 19 At Sea

Another day at sea to spend relaxing and enjoying the facilities of the ms Noordam. Perhaps attend a cooking class or demonstration at the Culinary Arts Centre or visit the ship's art gallery which contains some interesting and original artworks.

 Day 20 Burnie or Hobart

This morning your ship has crossed the Tasman Sea and depending on your particular cruise, has either arrived in the Port of Burnie in North Western Tasmania, or the state's capital Hobart, on the Derwent River. If in Hobart, you may wish to visit the renowned Museum of Old and New Art, or perhaps take a tour down to Port Arthur to learn more about Tasmania's convict past.

 Day 21 Melbourne

The ms Noordam has crossed Bass Strait overnight and will be docked at Station Pier in Melbourne. Perhaps venture into the city and discover its unique cafe and arts culture. You could take in the views of the city from the Eureka Skydeck or visit the famous Queen Victoria Market. Other options include a visit to the Dandenong Ranges or take a ride on the Puffing Billy steam train.

 Day 22 At Sea

The ms Noordam has left Port Phillip Bay and will make its way east then north along the New South Wales coast. Perhaps spend some time before the holiday's end relaxing in the ship's luxurious spa.

The ship will make its last port of call, before arriving in Sydney, in the southern New South Wales fishing town of Eden. Perhaps visit the Killer Whale Museum or learn more about the town's seafaring past including its whaling industry and its many shipwrecks.

 Day 24 Arrive Sydney

Today your epic voyage ends as the ms Noordam enters Sydney Harbour and berths at Circular Quay. After breakfast on board you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
