Itinerary


 Day 1 UK to Tokyo

After taking Saga's UK door-to-door travel service to Heathrow, fly overnight to Tokyo.


 Day 2 Tokyo

On arrival at the airport you are met and taken to HHotel Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba (4Q), where you stay for two nights.


 Day 3 Tokyo

An included morning coach tour will reveal Tokyo's contrasting sights of old and new, from the temple town of Asakusa to the bright lights of Akihabara Electric Town. B


 Day 4 Tokyo-Hakone

Travel to Kamakura and Hakone by coach and enjoy a little sightseeing and an included cruise on Lake Ashi, overlooked by Mount Fuji, before checking into the Palace Hotel Hakone (4Q) where you will stay overnight. B, D


 Day 5 Hakone-Matsumoto-Takayama

Visit Matsumoto on an included sightseeing coach tour which calls at Matsumoto Castle before proceeding to Takayama and the comfort of the Best Western Hotel Takayama (3Q), your base for the next two nights.
(Please note: in 2017 your stay may be at the Associa Takayama Resort (3Q) instead). B, D


 Day 6 Takayama

Today's full-day included walking tour of Takayama passes the main highlights of the area, which include the morning market, Kami Sannomachi Town, Takayama Jinya and the Festival Floats Exhibition Hall. B


 Day 7 Takayama-Shirakawago-Kanazawa

A coach tour visits Shirakawago - a quiet UNESCO-listed historic village that is home to unique thatched-roofed houses. You will then travel to Kanazawa for an included visit to see the Kenroku-en Garden, a private garden developed between the 17th and 19th centuries by the Maeda Clan. Tonight, stay at the Hotel Nikko Kanazawa (4Q). B


 Day 8 Kanazawa-Kyoto

After enjoying free time in Kanazawa, take a short walk to the train station for your rail journey to Kyoto. On arrival you are taken to the Kyoto Tokyu Hotel (4Q) where you stay for four nights. B


 Day 9 Kyoto

Founded in 794, Kyoto is widely considered Japan's cultural heart and is a living museum of the country's artistic and historic heritage. On an included full-day sightseeing tour see the Kiyomizu and Kinkakuji Temples, Nijo Castle, enjoy a kimono show and enjoy a stroll around the pretty Gion district. B


 Day 10 Kyoto

Spend today at leisure exploring the streets of Kyoto which are packed with tea houses and modern shops, gardens and fashionable restaurants.
Alternatively, join an optional excursion by bullet train to Hiroshima. B


 Day 11 Kyoto

Explore more of Kyoto as well as the ancient political centre of Nara on an included sightseeing tour. Visit the deer park, Kasuga Shrine, Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum and Todaiji Temple. You can also enjoy a traditional tea ceremony at an authentic teahouse on an included trip. This evening, look forward to your farewell dinner at a local restaurant with a performance by a maiko, an apprentice geisha. B, D


 Day 12 Kyoto-UK

Spend the morning at leisure before returning to Tokyo by bullet train for an overnight stay, close to the airport, at the Narita Excel Hotel Tokyu (4Q). B


 Day 13 Tokyo-UK

Travel to Narita airport for your return flight, arriving in the afternoon for your onward UK door-to-door travel service. B
